Love this casino! Everytime we go, we find the entire staff to be very helpful and friendly. Unlike many people, we enjoy the drive through the hills. A nice leisurely drive which we find very pleasant.10
It is against the law in California to give free alcoholic beverages. Blame the state and not the casinos.7
Spent several months in San Diego and made quite a few trips to Barona. The Wildcat Canyon Road is one of the most soothing, scenic drives in the U.S. Loved the road. It is just a nice country road - nothing like the mountains roads in the Great Smoky Mountains you have to travel to get to Harrahs Cherokee. In addition, the players and Barona personnel were very nice and hospitable. I not only made quite a bit of money there; I also made a lot of new friends.7
I just won $75,000 off a $5 slot machine to which I had inserted less than $100. There are people hitting jackpots all the time on all denominations machines. I play all over the U.S., and this is this casino is my favorite. I have been going there for years!10
the nonsmoking section needs better machines especially the 1 and 2 cent variety. You hav e to go to the smoking section to enjoy the penny machines. Best time is after 7am and before 2pm in the smoking section. Get more machines in the non smoking area.8
barona is a really good looking casino only real flaw would be the dealers, most of them are either too old or too young with no experience and sooo slow..7
The person that said there were a lot of drunk drivers on the road to/from Barona is wrong. Barona does NOT serve alcahol at the casino. I have driven that rode at least 100 times and it is really not that bad.7
This is the best Casino anywhere! I go there often, gamble a few hundred dollars and have hours of fun. The rooms are better than any you will find anywhere. Only complaint is the cheap facial tissue it is a shame such a fabulous place cheapens out when it comes to paper goods, otherwise I would not choose any other casino ever. The road is rough but the trip far surpasses the inconvenience of the drive. Customer service is adequate most of the time, but the atmosphere is the best and you can gamble on little money for a long time win or lose.10
To get to BARONA, you have to drive on one of the most dangerous roads in San Diego County. The road is winding and alot of drunk drivers. BARONA needs to build another road to get to high way 67. They have plenty of money and need to show they care about the customers and neighbors. Casino is tight. Great buffet.2
Maybe kenny should try and use this players club. I wonder if he could keep it current. They take away points you have erned each month. This is a greedy casino. I will not use it again.2
This is not a very fun place. No one really ever wins a thing?3
This is the worse casino in california. They have the worst palyers club in San Diego. It takes away point each month that you have earned through playing your hard earned money. This is a very greedy and not or non-caring casino. Stay away.1
I have been only once to Barona Casino. The reason why I went there, was because I had heard that this casino pay out money. Well, not true. Spend a lot of money and no winning. I will not go back again.2
The hotel at Barona Casino itself is very large, but the furnishings and interiors aren't that impressive -- unless you like country-western as a theme, and lots of straw. Service is also lousy and the employees often look annoyed and make faces when you ask them for help or want a drink. One drink lady completely ignored me. I also got sick from an undercooked hamburger I ate there at Feisty Kate's. I was going to file a complaint with the casino, but they never even apologised for the undercooked (i.e. RAW) hamburger. As for the gambling, it isn't as great as some people make it seem, and I have personally never won anything there in five months, except for $100.00. If you're going to gamble, at least go to Vegas where the machines are not regulated. By the way, they charge for extra bottled water in the hotel -- it's $3.00 for a few ounces. I can't say the water tastes that great either; tastes more like tap water. 1
I have been to Barona's enough times to know not to go anymore unless I want to lose all my money. I always end up losing all my money. I don't think they have a high payout of winners in the slots dept.1
As a local who frequents the area casinos several times monthly, I think Barona is without a doubt the best casino in San Diego. The number of games, choice of games, and rules are much more accomodating than it's counterparts. Three pet peeves though... 1) The road sucks. A two-lane road which winds throught the hillside. I wish they could make the access easier. 2) No alchohol at the games. I think this is due to the inherent danger of serving and having the people drive the mountain road. Understandable, but it still sucks. 3) Customer service doesn't seem vey good. Not to say it's poor, but it has definite room for improvement.9
Just came back from a weekend at Barona. The hotel was very clean. But the gambling sucked. The "nickel" machine required minimum bets of $1. Then I couldn't believe that they do not allow alcoholic beverages while you gamble. Oh you can drink in your room from room service or if you eat at the fancy steak house, you may have alcoholic beverages. I never drive when I drink, but I always drink while I gamble. Las Vegas and Laughlin are much more fun and my luck was much better in Nevada. What a disappointment!3
I used to work there and I always enjoyed the place. It was very elegant. The people were a joy to work with. Honestly though there is very few people that actually give good customer service. If I was a customer there and loosing it would be nice to have them give a friendly attitude. Honestly that is only gonna happen if you tip big or are winning and they think that you will tip big. 7
Barona is a hard place to get to. Even with a map and direction I got lost. Once we got there it was a little bit of let down. The surrounding looks underdeveloped and the casino is small. It has a woody and rustic ambience and staff are freiendlt, but games are tight. Seems like I was a youngest player, as most are over 60. Food is ok but buffet is way over priced. 4
Barona has a standard, limit, poker room which hosts a dry, lack-luster, very standard poker games. Not the place to go for exciting poker action. Their, more than 25, Pai-Gow tables, Black-Jack and slots are first-rate, housed in a five-star resort. The "Old-West" theme, which prevails, blends masterfully with the surrounding mountains, to create an experience that rivals vegas' resorts. 7
Barona is one of the best casinos in California and certainly can hold its own against Nevada. The road up to Barona from Lakeside is not nearly as bad as some people have said. I travel it frequently both night and day. The road to Pala is much worse as are many of the other Indian casinos. I can pretty well drive a constant 50 mph on the Barona road with an occasional slow down.9
I Love Barona Valley Ranch. Ever since my husband and I have discovered them we try to get down there at least every couple of months or so. We have even brought many of our friends and family members. It's just like being in Las Vegas without the long drive especially since we come in from the South Los Angeles area. The one and only downside to Barona is driving that intimidating moutain road into the Valley which is best travelled during the day. Hopefully, something can be done to build a safer road into the Valley.9
This Casino has one of the best Buffets in town or any town for that matter. If you are a senior as we are, go on wednesdays. After you register you will be given a coupon which gives you the Buffet for half price ($5.00). You also will recieve a coupon for the slots ($5.00). If you cash out the coupon at the slot, then cash out the retun coupn at the cashier you will recieve ($5.00)hence tne cost of the buffet is ($0.00).9
WHAT SHOWS DO YOU HAVE AND WHAT IS ON THE WAY??THANKS GIL7
Barona Casino is in a beautiful location and quite nice. The number one treasure of this casino is the friendliness of the staff. I don't believe I have ever been to a more friendlier place!!! The buffet was awesome, and take notice at some San Diego Hotels that offer brocheres to get a coupon for the buffet. The only problem was the slots were kind of tight but we had a great afternoon! The road is rough, but not all of California is freeway. It is very easy to drive if you just take it easy! Practice your space cushion in front of you and you will have no problems.7
The Club was right next to the door. It is very big and well laid out. I had a steak at Branding Iron Café, which was good and had a good price. I went to Barona Casino after receiving several recommendations that it was just like Las Vegas and worth visiting. I agree it is worth a trip. Driving the road out at night is not very nice. They have many dollar machines and I did play some on a 10-cent machine. The most fun I had was playing the horseracing machine for 0.25. I plan to go back when I have more time.8
I have probably visited Barona 200+ times going back several years. We also spent 4 fully comped visits to Barona stayig in the hotel. Barona has an excellent variety of machines. They are definitley looser than Las Vegas. I am a way ahead over the whole time. The casino is large and nice, excellent parking. The biggest downside is their player's club. They favor the frequent visitor over one that visits less often but gambles a lot more money. Restaurants, including the buffet are mediocre and over priced.8
The casino feels like Vegas. The staff is friendly and my wife and I have some luck with the slot machines. The facility is clean. The buffet is great. The only downfall to Barona is that the road to the casino is very dangerous. There have been several fatal accidents on the road. If the road is closed, you will have to turn around and drive several miles to come in from the other direction. Barona should build a NEW ROAD from hi way 67. Thank God they do not serve alcohol in the casino.8
Had a great time at Barona. Spent 2 nights the rooms are very nice. Husband said the golf course was fair. The service good. No alcohol served because of the dangerous road. Food at buffet was very good wide variety. Lots of machines.7
Barona is a nice place with their relatively new casino, golf course, parking structure, and eating places. I like to play the slots and the people are friendly. Only drawback is the road leading to the place, is one of the most dangerous roads in San Diego County. All in all, Barona is probably equal to the other casinos in Californioa.9
